Accessibility Compliance Deadlines

All products and services covered by the EAA must be accessible. Applies to e-commerce, banking, transport, and telecommunications.

DOJ's April 2026 Interim Final Rule extended Title II compliance: state and local government websites and mobile apps serving 50,000+ must comply with WCAG 2.1 AA by April 26, 2027. Smaller jurisdictions and special districts have until April 26, 2028. Public comments on the IFR close June 22, 2026.

All public-facing websites and web content must meet WCAG 2.0 AA under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.

Federal agencies must ensure all ICT (information and communication technology) conforms to WCAG 2.0 AA.

California state agency websites must meet WCAG 2.1 AA and provide accessibility statements.

EU member states must report on public sector web accessibility compliance. Non-compliant sites face enforcement.
